How To Reset Netgear WNR1000 Default Password?

There are basically four versions of WNR1000 available in the market. You will find the below-mentioned default credentials for all these four versions:

Password: Password.

Username: Admin

IP address: The IP address is 192.168.1.1. This is common for all Netgear router models.

What if Default password doesn’t work?

If you find the default password not working on WNR1000 router or somebody has changed it without your knowledge, then there is nothing to worry. You can change the password again by clicking on ‘Reset or forgot password’ link.

  4. Keep the button pressed for at least 10 seconds or until you find the power light starts blinking.

  7. Wait for half-a-minute so that the booting process gets totally completed.
  8. The router is now successfully reset. You can open the web browser on your computer and enter the IP address of your Netgear router. Enter 192.168.1.1.
  9. In the username field, enter ‘Username’ and in the password ‘password’.
  10. To maintain security, you must change the default password.

How to restore preferred settings?

 If you want to bring the router to its previous settings you have done before the reset, then login to the wireless network with the same SSID and password you used before. The same SSID will work for other custom settings like DNS servers as well.

Facing problem accessing the router

The default IP address for Netgear router is 192.168.1.1. If you have changed it at the time of setup, then you have to enter that IP address instead of default one.

Favorably, there is no need to reset the router completely to get the default IP. You can get the default gateway from any computer that is connected to the router.
